ONLY USE THIS FOR THE SPEAKER WIRES. Molding the enclosure to allow for this space maximizes available space, making the box less of a problem in putting it into the car. TYPES OF SUBWOOFER BOXES It has also been around for a long time, and it's used to build everything from boats to Corvettes to the seats on the rides at Magic AS you can imagine, there is more than one type of material that you can use to make your subwoofer box. Dont be too easily disappointed if your efforts dont work right away as it can sometimes take practice. Its noise, or at the least something we sense with our ears. If the grille is held in place by friction fittings, carefully pry it up.

If your battery goes dead on you after the installation of your new stereo you may have an electrical system problem. Factory model car speakers are usually ill equipped to give out the kind of sound that is emanating form subwoofer boxes, which is why buying your own speakers will likely be a necessity. If you don't use connectors, tie a knot in the speaker cable at the point where it exits the enclosure. I've always found that it's easier to work on the wood once the box is already put together. Usually the low frequency that comes with the system improves a little, but it will happen at the expense of power handling. You can use L-brackets for this which is good enough or you can remove the drivers and bolt the box directly to the vehicle.

Installation

I have decided to list the steps in point form so that they will be easier to follow. Below are the basic steps that are involved in installing an amplifier in your vehicle. Some vehicles will require additional steps, but this will at least give you a good starting point.

Power wire connection/routing:
The power wire for the amplifier needs to be routed from the car battery under the hood to the amplifier and the steps for doing this are below.

1. Open the hood and find the battery. Disconnect the positive terminal from the battery.

2. Check to see how the amplifier power wire ring terminal will connect to the battery.

3. Crimp a ring terminal onto one end of the power wire. Cut the power wire approximately 6-8" long. Then you have to attach one end of the fuse holder to the other end of the ring terminal. Attach the other end of the fuse holder to the remaining portion of the power wire. DO NOT CONNECT THE RING TERMINAL TO THE BATTERY OR CONNECT THE FUSEHOLDER AND INSERT THE FUSE UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO TURN THE AMPLIFIER ON.

4. Decide upon a point in the firewall to run the power wire through to the inside of the vehicle. If its at all possible, run it through an existing grommet on the firewall. Usually there are more access points on the driver's side anyway. If there are no acceptable holes, drill one in yourself.

Install a grommet into the hole before pushing the power wire through to prevent damaging the wire. Before you run the wires through, you will have to double-check that you can reach the area of the firewall where the wires will enter the inside of the car. IF YOU HAVE TO DRILL A NEW HOLE IN THE FIREWALL, BE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO EXISTING WIRES BEHIND THE AREA WHERE YOU WILL BE DRILLING.

5. Under the hood, have to run the power wire from the battery to the grommet on the firewall. Just make sure that it is not in the way of moving parts on the engine, hood hinges or heat sources as the heat will cause obvious problems.

6. You must route and secure the power wire from the battery to the firewall. Use wire ties to help you to attach the power wire to other cables or fixed points under the hood.

7. Feed the power wire through the firewall. Be sure to avoid using sharp objects to push it through. You may need to use a knife or blade to cut the grommet so the wire will go through though.

8. Pull the power wire through the firewall from the inside of the vehicle until the extra wire is out from under the hood. Keep some slack in the cable inside the engine compartment so it won't rub or be tugged on.

9. Route the power wire from the inside of the firewall to the location of the amplifier. Typically the power wire will go behind the kick panels, under the doorsill, and into the trunk.

10. Now you have to apply caulk to the opening in the firewall where the power wire is going to be inserted so water will not leak into the vehicle's interior.

That is all it takes in order to get your amplifier installed. Now it is on to taking out your old radio.
