Having built your enclosure, now you will learn how to install it into your car. This can be tricky at times, but it does not have to be hard. Below is a table of the tools that you will need to get you started.






Getting it done

Please keep in mind that this is for the subwoofer boxes that are being placed in the trunk of your vehicle. This is also useful for most car trunks.

1. Using a socket wrench that has a torx attachment, and remove the rear passenger-side seat-belt attachment.

2. Take your pry tool, and gently lift and remove the pins that holding the interior body-panel in place.

3. With all of the pins removed, remove the entire rear body panel, being careful not to scuff or scratch it.

4. Place the subwoofer in its mounting position.

5. The box is being held in position by three metal brackets. Two of them are located above and one below. Position the brackets and mark the positions to pre-drill mounting holes.

6. Drill the holes and mount the speaker in position.

7. Now that the sub is mounted properly, run the wire connections to the front of the vehicle. The wires will be partially hidden by the interior panel once it is reinstalled. For the remainder of the span, run the wires beneath the door sill on the rocker panel, then beneath the front carpet on the passenger side, and up behind the dash.

8. The red power wire will need to run up through the engine area and connect to the battery so that it can power the subwoofer's onboard amp.

9. The remaining subwoofer cables will tap into the leads for the right-rear and left-rear speakers. Once you've located those speaker leads, you may want to mark them with tape so that you know which ones they are. For a reliable connection, it will be best to solder these.

10. With the red power line running up through the firewall, you have to disconnect the battery as well as the built-in fuse on the subwoofer, and then hook the power line up to the battery connection.

11. Connect the subwoofer's ground wire to a suitable grounding location. You can easily attach it with a screw to an interior body panel. If it's a painted metal surface, sand off a spot to the bare metal to make a good ground connection.


12. Connect the power source and speaker connections on the subwoofer's speaker panel.

13. Install the subwoofer grill in the inside panel and then re-install the panel. If you want to make things even less obvious you can always purchase interior paint from an auto shop and paint your grill to match the color of your interior panels.

VOILA! You have now installed and built your very own subwoofer box. You have already wired the speakers and you are good to go!
