If you are planning on adding on additional amplifiers in the future it may be a good idea to choose a larger power wire now rather than later so that it will be able to handle the increase in power. I've seen acrylic tubes, cardboard, steel, and even honeycomb aluminum used. The crossover fits nicely in between the door panel and the door frame, so just it in.

Dual subwoofer boxes are those that have space for two subs and are also the most popular type. Remove the radio so that you can access the connections on the back. Disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery prevents you from draining your battery and getting stuck without power. You can find some freeware on the Internet, you can buy your software.

Box Software

There are quite a few different enclosure design software programs out there that can really make making your subwoofer box easier. The prices range greatly. You can find some freeware on the Internet, you can buy your software. As to which are better, I dont know, but here are some that are very much worth a good look, and they are meant for newbies like you.

Blaubox: This has been around forever it seems. This software was designed by Blaupunkt, and it's a DOS program and is very easy to use. This is the software I am most familiar with because I've been using it for so many years. It's free and definitely worth checking out. It even prints out the cut sheets for your car subwoofer box plans so that you dont have to.

WinISD: This is made available by the LinearTeam. I think that this is a very highly rated, free program. But I can say that it is worth checking out. The tone generator is a nice addition to it and is very helpful. It lets you hear what different frequencies sound like.

MacSpeakerz: this is a great program if you are using a Macintosh computer and If you dont have a PC emulator there is a program out called MacSpeakerz. I haven't used it personally but it's fairly popular and free.
