When it comes to your amps settings you will have to make some adjustments to ensure the best sound. Some of these adjustments include the following:
Gain control: This is a variable dial that increases the output so that you can compensate for various audio input levels that may occur depending on what the radio is connected to.
Crossover: Some amplifiers include settings that block out frequencies. For this reason you want to be sure to adjust the setting based on the speakers you will be running from the amp. For example, you would want to turn on the setting to block all frequencies above 100 Hertz if you are running subwoofers with the amp.
Boost: Some amplifiers include a boost button that increases the output at a certain frequency. Boost is typically used for subwoofers. Try listening with the boost on and off to determine what you like best.
