Don't confuse fiberboard with particle board however as they are quite different. The reason for this is because imperfections in lamination can cause your enclosure to make a buzz or rattling noise. If you've seen a car that has an in-dash equalizer the chances are very good that the vertical sliders were arranged in the same way as the Fletcher-Munson curve.
subwoofer ohms
Using the shortest screws possible, mount the amplifier how the manual from the manufacturer tells you to. Series resistances (in this case 4 ohm speakers) will combine according to this equation: Rt = R1 + R2 + R3. Basics of Speakers How can you really look to build a subwoofer if you dont have at least a basic idea of how speakers work etc? Remove the old speakers, making sure to note the polarity of each terminal. It must be connected to metal however, so remember that. Then we connect the crossover to the factory wiring with the quick connect wiring harness.
1. Cut the power wire. If it is behind or under a seat, make sure you leave enough slack to allow some movement. Strip back a small portion of the insulation and connect it to the larger terminal that should be labeled "12 Volts" or other similar labels.
2. Determine where the ground wire is going to go. The ground wire needs to be attached to the vehicle chassis and it should be kept as short as possible. It must be connected to metal however, so remember that. Seat bolts or other frame bolts are a great place for grounding these. Scrape back any paint on the metal surface that will be under the ring terminal.
3. Connect the ground wire to the ground connection terminal on the amplifier.
4. Connect the amplifier remote turn-on wire to the turn-on connection.
5. Plug in the RCA cables, making sure the correct color plugs are connected to the amplifier (red to red, black to black)
6. Connect the speaker wires to the amplifier. Make sure the correct speaker wires are connected to the correct terminals on the amplifier. If you are unsure which set of wires goes to which speaker, you can use an alkaline battery (AA or AAA) to "pop" the speaker to help determine which speaker wires go to which speaker. ONLY USE THIS FOR THE SPEAKER WIRES.
Tip 1: Be sure that none of the copper strands from the wiring is exposed and touching the amplifier or the other terminals and wires. This could damage your car.
Tip 2: When running the wiring to the amplifier, make sure the wiring is tucked as far out of the way as possible.
